About Trieste Social Club
The San Giusto Alabardi Social Club was formed by 65 members, most of whom came to Australia in the late 1950\’s and early 1960\’s from the city of Trieste, north of Italy. The Club was formalised in 1978, when the then Committee purchased an old factory at 4 Willow Street Essendon, transforming it into an elegant Clubhouse in the heart of Essendon. Proudly as the first Italian Club to establish its premises in the city of Essendon. The property was purchased and maintained through the hard work of its members. The premises of the Trieste Club was officially opened in 1984, by the then Mayor of the City of Essendon, Mr Peter Eustice.
Our Club Today
Our Club Today has an active Membership of 198, many of which reside in the City of Moonee Valley. The Trieste Club enjoys the patronage of its members and friends. Every month the Club is open for Sunday buffet lunches, Casalinga nights, Co-Asit Lunches, Wednesday Lunch & Bingo afternoons, Saturday Restaurant evenings (numbers permitting) and traditional events and dinners dances. Since embarking on the committee’s sincere wish to engage with more and more Members and Club Supporters, both personally at each Club event and through our Facebook page, we have experienced a marked lift of interaction occurring between all Members, guests and families. Since July we have attained 22 new memberships and interest is increasing particularly amongst 2 and 3 generation Triestini. We plan to continue reinforcing this growth by way of newsletters, emails, phone calls, via Facebook and face to face at all social events.
